Since I never found time to post my 2008 MLB Predictions before the season started I'm going to do them now. I'll start with the major award winners today and do my playoff predictions later. Since it's already two months into the season I'm going to tweak my predictions, but I'll give you my pre-season picks first... American League MVP--A-Rod (how could you pick anyone else) Cy Young--Erik Bedard (I can only imagine what his season would have been like last year had he stayed healthy all year) Rookie of the Year--Evan Longoria (He's gonna be really good) National League MVP--Prince Fielder (he's ready to hit .300 w/ 50 HR this year) Cy Young--Johan Santana (think of how good he was in the AL, and now he has one guarranteed out each time through the lineup) Rookie of the Year--Kosuke Fukudome (although I still don't think Japanese players should qualify) OK, since the season is two months old, here are my updated picks... American League MVP--Josh Hamilton (Triple Crown winner?? If it wasn't for him I'd pick Carlos Quentin) Cy Young--Daisuke Matsuzaka (I probably should say Cliff Lee, but I don't think he can keep it up all year long) Rookie of the Year--Jacoby Ellsbury (although Longria still could win it if he can get his batting average up) National League MVP--Lance Berkman (Another Triple Crown winner?? Probably not, but he'll still come close. If Chipper hits .400 then he'll be the winner) Cy Young--EdinsonVolquez (He was traded for Josh Hamilton this past off-season; I don't know who got the better end of that deal) Rookie of the Year--Geovony Soto or Joey Votto (If I have to choose, I'll go with Votto over Soto just because the long season may wear on Soto more than Votto) |
